Getting back to work, but never stopping the work of anti-racism. I’m sure it’s been an eye opening week of self-reflection, education, uncomfortable conversations, shame, guilt for us non-Black people - I cannot imagine how exhausted Black people are (this week & everyday of their lives). I am committed to this work for life alongside my Asian & non Black community.

As the daughter of a cop, I am committed to supporting police defunding and reform/abolishment. All good cops should be enraged at the system they are apart in and should have no issues screaming Black Lives Matter. They signed up to protect all lives and that is not what’s been happening in reality for decades. My dad is no exception. If he was standing there like officer Thao while George Floyd was being murdered, I would not stand for that shit. If he was tear gassing, kicking sitting protestors, pushing 75 yr olds around, I would hold his ass accountable. There is no excuse.

As a creator, I will fiercely call out racism, share Black businesses in my content, amplify Black creators, hold brands accountable, fund charities & projects created by Black people and help the Asian community to repair damage & move forward alongside BLM as real allies.

This is just the beginning. Please let us not stop sharing petitions, charities, businesses and valuable resources with each other. It is key that we lift the burden off Black people and keep the pedal on the gas when it’s not trending.

Also, WOW the messages you’ve sent this week give me so much hope, and I want to turn those intentions into real change with you. The Miss Louie fam is the REAL DEAL. Enough is enough. The levels of oppression have run so deep into every vein in our country. How many innocent black lives do we need to lose? The inhumanity and police brutality is sickening. Systemic racism has got to STOP.

It’s taken me a few days to gather my emotions as I just want to cry endlessly for the injustice. I have realized that even though my voice is small, that every voice counts and every ally matters. I’ve grown up learning to keep my head down like a good little Chinese girl and STFU, and that is completely wrong. My fear should never supersede the need to speak up.

As an Asian American, yes, we experience racism, but it pales in comparison to what our black brothers and sisters experience DAILY. We MUST crush the “model minority” myth, be the generation that changes the history of anti-blackness and truly stand as allies for our black community. We do not fear for our lives when we walk down the street, we do not need to fear if our son or daughter will return home. The daily struggles black people have to endure must end. We have privilege and we must use it for supporting our fellow POCs. I want to continue to learn and educate myself and to donate where I can. I hope to be better.

Some things I’ve done so far, but please share more in the comments so I can join in:

- Go to the @changedotorg petition for Justice for George Floyd OR you can text “FLOYD” to 55156 to “JUSTICE” to 668366 to sign.
⠀
- Fund the Black Lives Matter movement. You can donate directly to the cause https://blacklivesmatter.com/ or you can donate to organizations that help minorities such as The NAACP Legal Defense Fund and The Minnesota Freedom Fund @mnfreedomfund. This helps campaigns to end state sanctioned violence, liberate Black people and end white supremacy.

- There is a GoFundMe George Floyd Memorial Fund that you can donate to help the family directly
