MY APARTMENT TOUR!

Hi fam!!! O M G, It’s finally here. I’m sorry it took me so long to complete my nesting process and complete this tour, but I hope it was worth the wait!!! I’ve been in California for about two years now (originally from the Bay Area though!), and I can’t believe how fast time flew by. My walls had been bare for so long, and it wasn’t until I started decorating that I felt a renewed energy in my space. Since I work from home, it was crucial for me to create a zen environment that’s functional for filming and working. I wanted to surround myself with things that made me happy and comfortable, but I have to be honest – it was a constant challenge to maintain a space that merges my work and personal life. For the first time ever, I finally feel like I have a great balance of both aesthetically pleasing and functional home space.

My home decor style is a hybrid of Scandinavian minimalism, mid century modern and California boho. It encompasses my love for simple modern design AND cozy organic touches. When decorating, I start with bright & white pieces and then surround them with marble, wood finishes and natural textiles. In terms of furniture, I try to invest in streamlined, sleek silhouettes that alleviate the eyes from visual bulk as you scan across a room.

My living room comprises of two main areas: my main couch potato entertainment living space and my studio filming area. My entertainment area is defined by my moroccan style rug, gifted Burrow sectional sofa, marble coffee table, TV media console and a wooden bench that holds our record player and speakers. Behind the couch you will find two mismatched tables that separate the two spaces. I know they are awkwardly shaped side by side, BUT they hold my cameras, laptops, equipment and electronics while I am filming in the studio space and working on the couch. It’s like a buffet table of tech chaos that we eat from everyday, LOL! The open space in the back of the living area is reserved for filming. I have a standing floor mirror to check myself and plan outfits, and the brackets on the wall hold my backdrops. This two sectioned area is where I spent MOST of my time. One of my favorite things about my place are the huge windows that let in SO MUCH LIGHT all day long. I am so grateful for the light!

We have the extra ottoman because we love snuggling side by side, legs up, as we watch TV. Since it was difficult to fit next to each other on just the chaise alone, Burrow, threw in the ottoman for extra leg support so that we can veg out in proper comfort (thank you so much, Burrow!!!). I like that we can move the ottoman around with ease, AND you can switch up the chaise position from left to right anytime for full customization. The light gray color looks lovely with my West Elm marble round coffee table. The rug was matched with my old IKEA couch, so it’s currently too small for this elevated sofa, but I love it so much – I’m just waiting for the larger size to come back in stock. (ps. these cozy slippers have been a major upgrade from my daiso flip flops!) Today’s outfit details:

I have to confess, I am a pillow addict!!! I like changing things up from time to time, and a pillow is the easiest way to switch up the vibe in a room with minimal effort. My large African mudcloth pillow is from an amazing Etsy shop called BryarWolf, the white fluffy rectangle pillow is the timeless West Elm mongolian fur cover and the knotted blue pillow is an under $20 affordable find. Here are some AWESOME Under $30 pillow picks to also check out!

Our audio-technica record player, speakers, mini lamp (amazing light for such a little base!) and extra storage is tucked away under a modern wood bench. I have an addiction to baskets, totes, pouches and misc storage vessels, so I was delighted to find two low natural weave baskets that fit nicely under the bench. One has all of Boba’s toys (the low depth allows him to pull toys at his leisure. maybe one day he will learn to put them away too LOL) and the other has all of my active cables and electronics that I use to shoot with. Also, that rainbow pop art mirror is my FAVORITE wall decor EVER! It makes me smile everyday!

[shop-title style=2 text=”KITCHEN”]

The second most used in space in our home is the kitchen! Cooking, eating and “standing desk” working all happen around the floating island. We were so fortunate that this counter height island came with the apartment because it eliminates the need for us to buy a separate dining table. All we had to do is add four industrial counter height barstools and we were good to go!

Next to the kitchen area, we needed a landing spot for miscellaneous items AND a place for me to do my makeup. I had this lacquer white storage console on my wish list for a while, so I was thrilled to see it fit this narrow wall perfectly AND provide me with ample drawer storage for my essential everyday makeup items. On the bottom shelf, I keep my other everyday necessities – a woven tote to round up my external batteries, wireless mice (for working on the kitchen island) and wipes (for a mid day face refresher) place on top of my massive box of essential oils. I diffuse my rooms 1-2 times a day, so I love having this beautiful box handy to mix up my favorite blends.

Next up, the office! Jeremy and I share this space since we work from home. He mainly uses the desk area for his daily work hours and then joins me in the kitchen later in the day. Next to the desk is my working space where I organize all of the clothes I use for my videos. I’ve tried many different solutions, but the cubby hole storage unit + clothing rack seem to be the most successful combo so far. I can split up my clothes by article of clothing or by outfits when I prep for filming. On the other side of the desk, I have a marble console table that serves as a small countertop space for myself when I need to review paperwork or receipts within the office, and the smaller matching one is where I stack my incoming/outgoing mail boxes.

I’m still looking for cute accent rugs to sprinkle across the apartment and cover empty floor spots like these. Here are a few affordable options I’ve been checking out!

Ahhh, nothing like a curated bookcase display. Looks so effortless, but in reality it takes dozens of tchotchke swapping sessions to get it justtttt right! For this bookcase, I wanted the top half to be loose & easy and the bottom be anchored in symmetry. I’ve scattered my favorite knick knacks, stacked my books (in rainbow color order) and added some plants on the top three shelves for a burst of personality, and the two bottom shelves are focused on stylish modular storage. I love how everything is clean, white with touches of different textures. Those canvas file boxes and quilted canvas bins are the cutest!!

I use a kid’s IKEA storage unit to organize the stream of papers that come into the house. I can quickly dump papers and receipts into their respective categories and then organize them at a later date when I do my accounting.

[shop-title style=2 text=”BEDROOM”]

My bedroom is my serene, meditative space. I almost want it to mimic a cloud, layering white on white on white. It makes it super easy to decorate, lol! For my sleep space, I have an IKEA bed frame on top of a grid of FLOR squares, flanked by two campaign chests with clear jug table lamps. The majority of my bedding is all from Parachute with a few pieces from Brooklinen. I cannot tell you how grown up I felt when I upgraded my bedding, but seriously, I can never ever go back!!! The quality of sleep and is the best I’ve ever had, and I love the feeling of slipping into hotel level luxury every night.  Opposite of the bed, I have a dresser for clothes and a tall tower for makeup and beauty products.

My master bathroom has an above the toilet shelving tower. It was my first shelf styling project, and I’m still so proud of it! I enjoy it every time I look at it. It’s crazy how a faux plant can add a touch of freshness… to the toilet! LOL I also love the clear acrylic apothecary jars because they are so sturdy and light compared to glass (I have a set for both bathrooms) and the artisan string wall art at the top.

Then for the main guest bathroom, I wanted to make it as spa like as possible. I did my same ol’ thang of layering different textures of white with the textiles. I tried to keep it as simple and clean as possible so any guests can feel relaxed and have maximum counter space.

[shop-title style=2 text=”PATIO”]

Moving from a big Texas house to an apartment was a big change, but I’ve honestly come to love and appreciate the downsizing process. The biggest adjustment came from trading our big backyard for our cozy little patio (no more mowing, yay!!). I recently upgraded this space by just adding a new rug, a pair of pillows and some plants, and it’s made a night and day difference in the happiness level out there. I actually love spending time breathing in the fresh air and enjoying my little space!
